Andrew Jenkin

Andrew Jenkin

Andrew is the Head of Club Development Scotland. He is the founder of Scottish charity Africa on the Ball and CDS provides support to Fife based charitable football club AMS on a once-a-week basis. He has a background in sport for social, community development and is currently studying for a PhD in football, gender and fandom at the University of Strathclyde.

Qualifications:

Bryan Jackson

Bryan Jackson

Bryan has provided corporate recovery services for the past 34 years to a wide range of referral sources including banks, solicitors, accountants, money advice services, citizens advice bureaux, and corporate and personal clients. He worked on the administrations of Dundee, Clydebank, Portsmouth Motherwell, Hearts and Dunfermline. In the majority of these cases, Bryan successfully transferred the ownership of the club into the community.

Qualifications:

  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
  • Fellow of Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3).
  • Member of The Institute of Credit Management

Nick Igoe

Nick Igoe

Nick Igoe is a Chartered Accountant with 32 years’ post qualification experience including 27 years as finance director. Between 1997 and 2012 Nick was West Ham United’s Finance Director where his achievements included the following.

  • Fund raising, including securing finance for stadium redevelopment in 2000/01.
  • Managing financial strategy following relegation in 2003, culminating in the club’s return to Premier League in 2005 with significantly reduced cost base and debt.
  • Maintaining financial stability of club through a succession of challenges, including ownership changes, major litigation, insolvency of club’s owner, banking crisis of 2008 and default of club’s main sponsor.

Since 2013, Nick has been engaged as a consultant with SD Club Development on numerous projects for supporters’ trusts aspiring to gain control of their clubs, including the successful conversion to community ownership of clubs such as Newport County, Grays Athletic, Peacehaven & Telscombe and St Mirren.

Nick has also lent his experience to Supporters Direct initiatives such as the Expert Working Group on Supporter Ownership and Engagement.

Alan Russell

Alan Russell

Alan has been part of a business consulting practice which works with corporate, public and voluntary sector clients since 1999. His work focuses on the implementation of strategy: planning this with board members and senior teams; developing communication approaches to key stakeholders; engaging and enrolling teams and functions across entire organisations and their stakeholders; monitoring and checking process on the journey towards delivering business results.

Notable projects during this time have included:

  • co-ordinating the implementation of an SAP system for one of the UK’s largest petrochemical sites
  • creating a global change network for a leading international mining group
  • designing and implementing a database to automate the process of compiling performance data for a major oil field operator
  • running a programme office for a charitable trust to increase income generation and improve community engagement
  • training leaders and managers in change management methodologies
  • facilitating workshops for numerous project and leadership teams

Alan’s experience in change consultancy and facilitation complements his previous background as a business process analyst, and his honours degree in Economics. Alan is a passionate football fan, and balances his consulting role with the position of Chief Executive at Supporters Direct Scotland. He is also the chairman of Raith Supporters Trust, which owns a major shareholding in Raith Rovers FC, one of Scotland’s oldest professional football clubs.
